Active Duty United States Air Force
My name is Kody Welsh, I am 27 years old and currently serve on active duty in the United States Air Force. Motorsports has been a lifelong passion of mine, beginning at the age of six when I started racing flat track dirt bikes. That early introduction to racing laid the foundation for a competitive career built on discipline, consistency, and respect for the sport.
I transitioned to kart racing at Hamlin Speedway in Pennsylvania, where I earned my first track championship in 2006. Over the next six seasons, I competed in multiple classes on the short dirt track, accumulating over 20 feature wins and two additional championships. These formative years taught me racecraft, adaptability, and the importance of teamwork. In 2012, I moved into full-size cars on pavement at Bethel Motor Speedway, where I captured another championship along with multiple feature victories.
In 2016, I stepped away from racing to begin my military career. After taking time to adjust to active-duty life, I returned to racing in Colorado, competing in dwarf cars from 2020 through 2022. During that period, I earned 10+ wins and finished second overall in the Colorado Dwarf Car Club Pro Class in 2022.For the 2023 season, I transitioned back to full-size dirt racing in an IMCA Hobby Stock with the goal of contending for a championship. However, I received deployment orders just before the season began.
After returning in late 2023, I ran a full season in 2024 at El Paso County Speedway, earning 14 wins and a track championship.Following the 2024 season, I sold the Hobby Stock and built a Modified to allow for a more family-friendly schedule and the opportunity to compete in select traveling endurance events, including races such as the Lone Star 600 in Texas. For the current season, I plan to run a limited local schedule in a Stock Car, along with select enduro events later in the year.Off the track, family plays a central role in my racing program. My wife, whom I married in 2021, has been my primary pit support for several years. This year, we welcomed our first daughter, adding a new and meaningful dimension to our racing journey.Thank you for your support!
